One of the most vital roles on-site is the slinger signaller. Requiring competence, diligence, and acute concentration as the eyes and ears of the crane operator, they work alongside lifting teams to provide safe direction and supervision while ensuring the safety of any other workers or site visitors in the area.
This awarded Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Slinger Signaller qualification enables learners to upgrade their trained operator card with an NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations, certifying competence as a slinger signaller.
The qualification enables learners to show they are a competent operator in controlling lifting operations.
We assess this NVQ over two on-site assessments while the learner is carrying out their day-to-day duties. Rather than producing a portfolio over time, our specifically assigned assessors gather evidence in the form of photographs, videos, method statements and professional discussions to take forward for examination.
To pass this qualification, learners must successfully complete and achieve all four Mandatory Units.
Learners taking this Level 2 Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations will cover knowledge, skills and practices to learn the fundamentals of lifting and slinger signalling in the construction sector.
Course Content:
Mandatory Units - must achieve all four
General workplace safety competency
Efficient workplace practices
Guiding, positioning and placing suspended loads
Attaching and preparing suspended loads for movement using lifting accessories in the workplace
Upon successfully completing this qualification, learners will have the skills, knowledge, understanding, and competence to progress to a higher-level qualification in the same or similar occupational area.
As a result of completing the NVQ Level 2 in Controlling Lifting Operations - Slinger Signaller, delegates can apply for the Blue Competent Operator Card.
Any person or employee who works within construction who needs to obtain a card and a nationally recognised qualification in Slinger Signalling. This NVQ is also required both for Slinger Signaller trained operator cardholders in order to upgrade to the Competent Operator Card.
We advise between 6 and 9 months from induction to complete most Level 2 NVQs. The duration within this time depends on delegate experience, circumstances, and work.
