Overseeing the movement of all lifting operations on a construction site ensuring team safety and effectiveness, the Crane Supervisor is responsible for supervising safe lifting operations and following the lift plan prepared by the Appointed Person.
This NVQ qualification enables learners to upgrade their CPCS or NPORS-CSCS trained operator card with an NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations, certifying competence as a Crane Supervisor.
The qualification enables learners to show they are a competent operator.
Totally Training assess Learners against performance and knowledge statements from the recommended qualification structure. While producing a portfolio of evidence, delegates will show how they have met each unit's performance and knowledge criteria required within the qualification, as directed by their Assessor.
To complete this qualification, Learners must successfully achieve all eleven mandatory units and five optional units.
Learners taking this Level 4 Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Supervising Lifts will cover knowledge, skills and practices to learn the fundamentals of lifting and crane supervision in the construction sector.

Upon successfully completing this qualification, Learners will have the skills, knowledge, understanding, and competence to progress to a higher-level qualification in the same or similar occupational area.
As a result of completing the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Supervising Lifts, learners may apply for a CPCS / CSCS NPORS Competent Operator Blue Card with the relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environmental Test.
Any person or employee who works within construction who needs to obtain a CSCS card and a nationally recognised qualification in Crane Supervision. This NVQ is also required both for red CPCS Crane Supervisor trained operator cardholders and red CSCS NPORS Crane Supervisor trained operator cardholders in order to upgrade to the Blue Competent Operator Card.
Times can vary due to Learners' experience and circumstances. We advise between 6 and 12 months from induction to complete this qualification.

The Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Supervising Lifts qualification is designed to occur in a real workplace environment.
Learners must inform their assessor before starting the course about any special considerations, medication or physical restrictions that may cause difficulties in any part of the training. It can be renewed with a relevant in-date CITB Health, Safety and Environmental Test, renewing it for another Five Years.
