Safe Excavation in the Vicinity of Cables (COP2)

Introduction to qualification

Locating and excavating around underground cables is crucial to avoid disruption of services and prevent serious injury. Damaging or severing a cable causes electric shocks, electrical explosions, fire and even fatalities, often resulting in severe burns to the hands, face, and body. Therefore, safe excavation around cable works, no matter the voltage, is essential to ensure the safety of everyone involved and to keep the project on track.

This certification delivers the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding when working with buried cables and carrying out safe excavations.

Qualification outline

With a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, learners will cover manufacturer and general knowledge and awareness of buried cables. In addition, they’ll participate in practical activities to learn best practices and operating methods to highlight the dangers involved when undertaking excavation work around cable networks.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations. In addition, choose to learn with Totally Training, learners benefit from our custom-built training facilities and customer-first approach.
