Occupational Health and Safety practitioners and, specifically, Health and Safety (H&S) Officers are vital to the well-being of workers and the success of a project and keep productivity high. The Health and Safety Officer must have the multi-discipline knowledge, skills and expertise to predict, manage, and therefore prevent or drastically reduce risk. Ultimately, the responsibilities and actions all parties take to comply with legislation are managed and implemented by Health and Safety Officers in any line of work.
This Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety qualification enables learners to demonstrate and recognise skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrate competence in a real workplace environment. They are designed for professionals working in occupational health and safety practitioner positions in the construction sector to develop and prove knowledge and competency. As it is a generic course, anyone working in Health and Safety professions across different sectors and industries can study.
Totally Training assess learners against performance and knowledge statements derived from National Occupational Standards - the Recommended Qualification Structure for Occupational Health and Safety Level 3.
While producing a portfolio of evidence, learners will show how they have met each unit's performance and knowledge criteria required within the qualification, as directed by their assessor.
To pass this qualification, learners must successfully complete and achieve all five Mandatory Units and two Optional Units.
Learners taking this Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety will cover knowledge, skills, and practices to develop their skills and knowledge of health and safety within the workplace.

Upon successfully completing this qualification, learners will have the skills, knowledge, understanding and proven competence to take responsibility for occupational health and safety within an organisation and progress to more specialist roles such as supervisory and management positions in the workplace.
As a result of completing the NVQ Level 3 Occupational Health and Safety, learners can apply for the CSCS Gold Card.
This qualification is open to anyone to study with no requirements for previous formal training. Available to learners age 18 and over, they must have the relevant resources and assessment opportunities to take the qualification.
We advise between 6 and 9 months from induction to complete. The duration of this time depends on the learner's experience, circumstances, and work.

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety qualification is designed to take place in a real workplace environment.
Before joining the course, learners must ensure they can gather the necessary evidence to meet all performance requirements set out in the standards.
Once the Learner has completed their NVQ and obtained their CSCS Gold Card, their CSCS card is valid for Five Years. It can be renewed with a relevant in-date CITB Health, Safety and Environmental Test, renewing it for another Five Years.
